マント：海底光景

海底深くまで差し込む光景を、広々とした身頃に洋々と描いたマント。微かに透ける薄手の素材は 麻混のブリーチアウト・デニム。
まるで絵画を背負ったような 大きく広がる図柄は、 型の大きさに制限のあるシルクスクリーンやインクジェットでは表現できません。 手描き捺染においても、大変な作業になることは 想像に難くないでしょう。 これ程 広範囲に及ぶ図柄になってしまうと、筆や刷毛だけでは描けないので、ペイント用のローラーまで使っての作業となります。 海底の岩場に群生する珊瑚、そこに遊ぶ小魚、差し込む陽光…と冒険心に駆られる図柄が、ブリーチアウト・デニムの少し色落ち感のあるインディゴブルーに漂い、静寂さの中にも爽やかさを感じる構成です。 また、少し透け感のあるナチュラルな風合いも、肌触りが良く軽量で、図柄の印象に よく馴染んでいます。 そして何より、この大きな図柄が 平面的な絵画やポスターと明確に違うのは、贅沢に生地を使ったマントに描かれていること。 着ることでドレープが生まれ、歩くことで後ろに揺れます。 絵画が画像なら、このマントは動画と言えるでしょう。 光が差し込むシーンは、ドレープで波打つようなスクリーンに映し出され、それが風に靡けば、まるで海中を漂っているようです。
最後に、ヘビーユーズに対応した機能性にも触れておきます。 薄手の素材だが デニムなので、扱いやすく丈夫。 単仕立てで、裏側は肩当てのみだから、軽い着心地。 和服の衿元にマッチする衿元は、ゆったりとして涼しげ。（両脇にポケットのように見える）手を出すためのホール等の装飾は、冬物と同様に丁寧な仕上がり。 洋服との組み合わせにも楽しめる大胆なシルエット。 リゾートでは、気分を上げるアウターとなるでしょう。

This Mantle has a large hand-painted print on the spacious body of the seabed scene where light penetrates deep. The thin, slightly transparent fabric is a linen blend bleach-out denim.
As explained at the beginning of this article, Silk screen printing and Inkjet printing cannot express large patterns that look like a picture on your back. You can imagine the hard work involved in hand-painted printing, too. With such a wide range of patterns, you can’t draw with just a brush, so you have to use rollers for painting. Corals in the rocky area of the ocean floor, small fish playing there, sunlight … and adventurous patterns drift in the blach-out denim’s slightly faded indigo blue, and you can feel the freshness in the silence. In addition, the natural texture with a slightly transparent feel is soft and light, and fits well with the impression of the pattern. And most of all, what makes this large design distinctly different from the flat paintings and posters is that it appears on a luxurious Mantle. Draping is created by wearing it, and swinging back by walking. If a painting is an image, this cloak is a video. The scene of the light coming in is shown on a draping and undulating screen, and when it is swung by the wind, it is as if you are diving under the sea.
Finally, there’s the functionality for heavy use. Although it is made of thin material, it is made of denim, so it is durable and easy to handle. It is a single layer (shoulder lining only) so it is light and comfortable. The collar that matches the collar of Wafuku is loose and cool. Decorations such as the holes on both sides (which look like pockets) to show your hands outside are as careful as winter clothes. A bold silhouette that can be enjoyed with western clothes. At a resort, it will be an outer wear that will lift your spirits.
