マント：ダブルフェイス・コットン

紺系タータンチェックの外と、赤線が印象的なボーダーの内との、コットンのダブルフェイスのマント。
このマントの特徴は、何と言っても 素材のコットンにあります。品質は綿100％ですが、表裏に重ねた別々の織組織(生地)が分離しないように、間隔を置いて 表裏互いの経糸・緯糸で結合させて１枚の布にした、表裏一体の生地なのです。ここでは、紺地にグリーンのタータンチェックの薄手の表と、白地に赤いボーダーを走らせた薄手の裏を、間隔を置いた糸で結合して１枚のコットン生地に仕上げている。表と裏が補完し合うので、ハリコシが生まれ、ウール系のマントには無い末広がりな美しいシルエットを描きます。コットンのナチュラルで無骨な風合いと相まって、男らしいシルエットを提供してくれるのです。通好みながら、昔の書生マントのように、普段使いにぴったりなマントと言えるでしょう。
また、コットンを重ねたと聞けば、ゴワゴワとした重たい生地を想像しがちですが、表裏ともに しなやかで薄手の木綿を重ねているので、軽くて 肌触りも柔らか。さらに、裏地を一体化させた単衣仕立てになるので、すっきりとした 扱いやすさも便利です。裾まで美しく流れるシルエットに加え、手を出すためのホールや比翼など、マントにとって複雑な箇所から細かな細工まで 手抜かりはありません。だから、クラシカルな品格を備えているのです。
コットンのマントと言うと、軍用マントを連想するかも知れませんが、それよりも格段に優しく 軽い着心地。カジュアルに着こなせて、洋服との相性も良いから、旅先でも便利でしょう。そこはかとなく、和風なのです。

Also, when we hear that cotton is layered, we tend to imagine a hard and heavy fabric, but since thin cotton is layered on both the outer and inner, it is light and soft to the touch.
